Batshit Spelunking Main Theme
Original score for a dark short film. Sparse orchestral mockups fused with processed noise and fragmented melodic material — tension built through restraint rather than spectacle.
Composed between September 2025 and March 2026, Batshit Spelunking combines international storytelling with Austrian setting, placing a genre film within the vast caves of the Austrian Alps. Directed by a young female filmmaker, it brings a fresh perspective to the male-dominated horror genre, featuring breakthrough performer Tahzara Wurawa in her first on-camera role. Beneath the compelling narrative, the film tackles socio-political themes: the exploitative dynamics of a father's video-blog ambitions at his daughter's expense, and the psychological legacy of the COVID-19 pandemic—isolation, claustrophobia, and a bat-borne infectious disease spiraling into collective madness. The score captures this tension through dark, electronic textures merging modern production with retro synth aesthetics, layering pulsing synths with orchestral elements—violin, wine glasses, African and South American percussion—creating an immersive sonic environment that deepens the film's atmospheric and thematic depth.
